Healthy development of your child is an ongoing process, beginning from their first few days of life to young adulthood. At Portland Pediatric Group we want to be a part of ensuring your child is receiving the care they need to thrive and live their healthiest life, which is why we recommend bringing your child in for Well-Child visits.
Pediatric visits benefit more than children who are ill; they are vital to healthy children as these visits help diagnose issues you may not be aware of, as well as aid in avoiding illnesses that may be preventable. Well-Child visits consist of a set of comprehensive guidelines developed by The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) designed to promote the development of your child.
We recommend bringing your child to Portland Pediatric Group for their first Well-Child Visit during the first 3 to 5 days after their birth. During this visit, we’ll discuss your child’s feeding and sleeping habits as well as any concerns you may have about their health, safety, and overall well-being. As your preferred pediatrician we will work together to ensure your child is receiving the personalized care they deserve.
Your child’s next Well-Child visit with Portland Pediatric Group should be scheduled at 1-month post birth followed by a 2-month-old visit, 4-month-old visit, 6-month-old visit, eventually scaling back to a yearly physical to establish optimal health in your child. This will also give us the opportunity to address any concerns you may have regarding your child’s physical progress.
Well-Child visits are imperative to your child’s development and overall well-being. Additionally, they can assist in developing healthy eating habits in your child as nutrition will eventually become a topic of discussion.
